The Leofoto LB-75S leveling base is a 75mm leveling base that fits between my Robus RC-5570 tripod legs and my Leofoto BV-20K fluid tripod head. It replaces the top plate in the tripod legs.

Installation is uncomplicated:

• Remove the tripod’s top plate

• Install the LB-75S leveling base

• Attach the fluid tripod head

As the name suggests, this piece of equipment serves one crucial purpose: leveling.

Why a Leveling Base Matters for Landscape & Wildlife Video

You rarely deploy your tripod on an altogether level surface for wildlife and nature videos. Even a wooden viewing platform may not provide a truly level surface.

Once you deploy your tripod legs, it is much easier to use this leveling base to achieve a level platform than to try to fine-tune the tripod legs themselves.

With the LB-75S:

• Loosen the large butterfly handle

• Make slight adjustments using the integrated bubble level

• Lock it down and start shooting

The butterfly handle is easy to use, especially when wearing gloves, which is a big plus for cold-weather shooting.

Real-World Performance

This is a huge time-saver. Trying to level tripod legs on any incline can be extremely challenging and frustrating.

If you get the tripod legs somewhere in the ballpark, the leveling base does the rest. Minor adjustments are fast, precise, and repeatable—precisely what you want when working with video.

Build Quality

This is a solidly constructed item that feels built to last. Everything about it inspires confidence, from the machining to the locking mechanism.

Final Thoughts

There is not much else to say here, except that the Leofoto LB-75S leveling base is an absolute must-have for video. If you shoot landscapes, wildlife, or nature video on uneven ground, this is one of those pieces of gear you absolutely need.

I only recommend equipment that’s proven itself through early mornings, challenging weather, and my tendency to wander off trail for “just one more shot.”

Thanks for helping support what I do.
